Apps R12 Disables mod_plsql

This article talks about the Release 12 technology stack. It is states that Apps R12 no longer uses (disables) mod_plsql; if you have any custom use for it, start planning a migration. I’m curious what the exact reason is. Other Oracle products like Metalink and Application Express use it heavily.

Applications Menu is Empty on Oracle Linux

After installing Oracle Linux (installed all packages/modules) the Applications menu does not seem to work properly. I have no clue how to fix this. Does anyone know how to solve this? Here is a screen shot:
